Office Chief Quartermaster,
[[strikethrough]] Detachment Army of Tennessee. [[/strikethrough]]
Montgomery April 25th 1866.

Jno U. Potter Esq
Selma Ala

Your letter of 22nd Inst. reached me yesterday for politeness of Mr Vaughn.
My next sale will be at Selma May 6th where I will require your services.
The matter of the widows horse will most likely turn up in time.
I will relieve Lt Donnard myself
I do not think it would expedite the action in the premises to telegraph to Mobile
You say you will see the widow to day
I have no doubt but you will make it convenient to see as often as possible
You Obedient Servt
D B Whetsel
