Bvt Major Henry Keleltas
U.S. Army
Comdg Fort Morgan

Major

In compliance with your order I have the honor to submit the following report in regard to occurrences of this Post.

On the 6th June some of the men of this Command broke into the Sutler Store and obtained whiskey many being drunk. I went over to consult with Bt. Major Curtis as to what was better to be done in case of disturbance

Major Curtis misunderstanding the State of Affairs, refused to let me leave the Post, sending Bvt Capt Galloway with a party of twenty picked men (under a Sergeant released from arrest in order to go, being there under charges for mutinous conduct) with orders to assume command and investigate the trouble. This investigation has been against myself, and affidavits produced which I deny and pronounce false.

Protesting against the entire action of Major Curtis, I respectfully request a board of inquiry to examine the facts in order that my action may be shown to have been proper and Officer like in every respect

I am Major
Very Respectfully
Your obdt Servt
David M. Meredith
Captn 15th Infantry.
