The Application of Isham H Hobbs shows that Samuel Nuckolls departed this life in the year 186[Smudge] at his death he was a citizen of the County of Madison & State of Alabama. After his death the Probate Court for the County of Madison granted letters of administration on his estate to this applicant & James Steger. Said Steger hath departed this life & this office court is now sub administrator of said estate. At his death said Nuckolls was given possession of a valuable tract of land lying near Flint River on the eastern side of said County of Madison.
Some time in the first of the year 1865, the United States Authority at this place took possession of said tract of land as Abandoned land & still hold possession of it as Abandoned land. 
He further shows that Nuckolls at his death left the following children to wit Minerva M Colt who is the wife of
