Sir,
Mr. J. Crenshaw of this county complains that the Judge of Probate of Lowndes County has taken a col'd boy "Joe" from him, and apprenticed him to a man named "Finnelly" of Lowndes County his former owner, Mr. Crenshaw states that the boy and his Mother Lorre Fern under verbal contract with him since last Christmas, to work till Janry 1st/67.
The Judge of Probate could have made no effort to find whether the childs parents were able to support it, if Crenshaw's Statement is correct.
I am very Respy Your Obed't Serv't.

Transcription Notes:
The original guess for the man's name (that I deleted) was Timothy. However, if you look at the spelling, there is clearly a 'elly'. Thus Timothy is not a viable choice. I have no idea what the name is though. –––––––––––- I believe the name is Finnelly. I've changed it here but left the notes in place for additional scrutiny. MD ______________ I agree the name is Finnelly. However, it was transcribed to Jim Finnelly. I updated to Finnelly - delete Jim and added " ".
