E.A. Blount, Claimant & owner

In the District Court of the United States for the Middle Dist of Alabama.
Whereas information has been filed in this Dist Court of the United States at Montgomery against the lot & building in Selma, known as The Watts Hall building to E.A Blount of Perry County. Ala, for confiscation under the laws of the United States for having been used for insurrectionary purposes, and having been taken possession of by the Authorities of the United States; and whereas E.A. Blount, the owner of said building has been pardoned by the President of the United States, for all offenses committed by him in the late rebellion, which pardon he has accepted & complied with in all its conditions; and whereas it is desired to settle said case & have the same dismissed out of said Court & the property restored to said Blount, now it is agreed between him & J. G. Smith, Esq'r, U.S. District Atty for said Court who filed said information for libel & that said building is worth twenty thousand Dollars, & that two hundred '/100 Dollars is a reasonable Attorney's Clerk's or Marshall's fee, which sum being now paid, the receipt of which is acknowledged, besides $10.00 pointer's fee, said cause is dismissed without further costs from said Court & the property restored to possession of claimant E.A Blount.
