Sergeant Tho's. Harris late of the 8th Iowa Vol. Inf'ty. desires me to state to you my opinion of his fitness for the position of "Route U.S. Mail Agent", with the view of applying to you for the same in obtaining that position.

Serg't. Harris was on duty with me while I was Asst Supt, eight months, and I assigned to him the most important tasks and dangerous duties.
I found him prompt, fearless, judicious, intelligent, and above all for the position he seeks; trustworthy.
