Before the undersigned Justice of the peace for said county personally appeared. H.M. Langford and Adaline Langford his wife who here by me duly sworn depose and say that they are well acquainted with James O. Jefferies of said county now under military arrest; and that on the night that the freedmen one Wm Booth's place was robbed, to wit Dec 31st 1865, affiants were at the house of said James O. Jefferies in said county that said Jefferies was at his home at and before night on said day, and that he did not leave home to their certain knowledge before bed time between ten and eleven o'clock; they being with him until that hour, that he expressed no intention of leaving home that night: that he was at home next morning and they do not believe that he could have left home that night without their knowledge, & that to the best of their knowledge information and belief, the said Jefferies did
