While addressing you, General, permit me to bring one or two other matters to your notice. There is some sickness among the indigent, both white and black, and they are suffering for medical attention and medicines. Would it not be well to employ a physician and authorize your agt here to pay for necessary medicines. Again, clothing of almost any description is  needed.

I am still desirous of re establishing a Church Home for orphans, but as yet have been unable to raise any part of the sum necessary for this object. I hope you will [[strikethrough]] not [[/strikethrough]] succeed better in your efforts to aid the enterprise, but if not, I heartily thank you for the generous sympathy you have manifested for the cause of the orphans.
