Dear Sir
I write to explain an order issued on Monday last by Genl Wood.

In May 1865 a small amt of work was done on the Mobile Great for RR by the United States under the direction of Capt Wheeler of the Vol Engineer Trooper. In this work we were charged $3,900_ when we think it should not have exceeded $500_ and to establish this fact, desire to take evidence at Pollard on Thursday the 21st inst.

To give all the weight possible to the investigation
I desire an officer of the United States present and expected Genl Wood to so order

I shall notify Capt Wheeler of our intention as soon as I can hear that you will appoint an officer to meet me on the day designated at Pollard. Please let me hear from you at an early day:

Yours Very Respectfully
G. Jordan
