Office Commissary General of Subsistence, Washington City, November, 19, 1866 Circular Letter. Sir: 1. In cases specially approved by the Commissioner of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, Assistant Commissioners are authorized to obtain from the Subsistence Department such Subsistence Stores as they may require for issue. [[stamp]] THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE UNITED STATES[[/stamp]] 2. Officers on duty in the Subsistence Department will promptly fill, as far as their available supplies will permit, all properly approved requisitions from Assistant Commissioners.
