The Quartermaster estimates the cost of making these repairs and alterations are from $12.00 to $15.00. It is believed, however, that the saving in fuel and transportation during the next six months will cover this expense.
The inmates of the Colony would certainly be greatly benefitted, and a reduction effected in the current expenses of the establishment by the change. It is also hoped that if the recommended change be made, the Freedmans Hospital in this city, can soon be broken up, and the patients transferred to the "Stonewall Hospital".
