Crawford Russell County Alabama 6 January 
General Swayne  Derar Sir there matters going on in the probate court of Russell County that I think is very unreasonable and unfair; [[strikethrough]] thing is [[/strikethrough]] I have hired a freedman and his wife both young healthy and able bodied [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] They have [[strikethrough]] one [[/strikethrough]] ondly one child which is about seven years of age; I hired the parents of this child I give one Hundred and Thirty five Dollars for the two and one acre of land and time to tend it I also feed or give them there provision. The former owner of the woman applied to the court to bind their child to her  The parents defended the case and proved by the there imployer the facts above. Stated; The Lawyer asked me if I would take the child which I had with its parents and See that it Should be feed and clothed as I did not agree to it in our contract. I told him that I would he ask me how long I told him the balance of this year or untill twenty one years old; the Judge answered and Said that the former owner had the prefference with all this he bound the child over 
its Step father took the child and carried it out of the State before the case was desided and it Still out of the State; The child is at a good place but away from it parents I wish you to give all the Enformation nessary concerning case; Direct your letter to A R Lyon Crawford  Russell County  Allabama
