Gen. Swayne,
Respt. Sir,

Pleas indulge me in a few questions in relation to my duty as Magistrar, as I have been chosen to that office by the people of Enon Precinct Macon County Ala, I see from Gov. Parson. Circular letter of August the 18th 1865, an order iminating from your Bureau of August the 4th, '65 Gen order No 7. Circular No 5, Section 7. Therefore untill further orders the judicial officers and Magistrates holding office by appointment of the Provisional Gov't of Ala. are hereby designated as the agents of this Bureau for the administration of justice and, I wish to know whether that order is still in force and whether it extends to Magistrates elected by their respective precincts at the last regular Election for such officers if so please inform me as I am willing to act as such agent and give me such information as is needful in the premises and whether or not I would be authurised to approve contracts made between White men and colored men, when made according to justice and equity. We are very inconveniently situated in my Presinct we have to go some twenty or twenty five miles to an agent to have our contracts approved
Please inform me of these matters your Most Obedient &c
