Sir,

I have to acknowledge the receipt of yours of the 9th inst. enclosing a copy of a letter from Brt. Major General Wager Swayne, requesting the transfer of the Marine Hospital at Mobile Ala to the Freedmens Bureau.

I regret to say that I am obliged to decline doing so, the Hospital being needed for the accommodation of the Marine patients at that post.
