I have visited Genl. Webster and arived at Elyton.  I can here of Several depredations, but as yet I have failed to obtain any evidence Sufficient to make an arrest.  I find Dr. Houghy a very energetic & efficient man.  I have conversed with several Union men here.  I find that in the counties of Jefferson, Blount St Clara and Walker there is quite a large minority of Union men, all of which have more or less been abused during the last five years, on acount of ther union principals.  I find that all of the union men of those counties [[strikethrougj]] all [[/strikethrough]] have a perfect admoration for Dr. Houghy and will sustain him in any thing that he will undertake.  Dr. Houghy once invested with the authority to arrest & try those offenders. Th law will be informed at once, and I would sugest that you, make no delay in Sending Dr. H
