not having made more than 3/4 of a bushel of Corn to the head, who are without lands or other means to subsist upon, they wish to move as follows.

To Texas 8 families 49 souls. To Tennessee 5 families 42 souls. To Mississippi 2 families 12 souls. To Arkansas 8 families 44 souls. In addition to these, there are in the same beat 43 other families containing 279 souls and who have made only 25-75 bushels of corn or less then nine bushels to each member of the family, to say nothing of the Stock they are compelled to feed; these do not desire to move but are utterly unable to assist the destitute.

As soon as the beats make full reports, I will forward statements as above. It is due however that I should state that one beat has reported no destitution that cannot be supplied in the beat, we hope other beats will be able to do the same.

It is made the duty of the Committee with which I am connected to correspond with your Excellency and others to ascertain what aid you can afford in transporting the destitute to sections where provisions are plenty and labor in demand
