Dear General
On my arrival here from Mobile and during the two days I have been here, I have been informed that a party from New Orleans are picking up large quantities of scrap Iron and shipping it off, by Rail Road, and that at such prices as to lead us to believe that, it was not owned by persons who paid much for it, and Capt Groves thinks some of it belongs to the "Bureau". I have no doubt that wherever there is Iron, it is taken without much regard to the ownership. I do not know, neither does Capt Groves, what amount
