In Ch'g Freedmens Hospital

Sir
I have the honor to request a furlough for 30 days to go to Washington Iowa, to see my Father who is lying helpless with Reheumatism and greatly needs my services,

My personal affairs also require my immediate attention, otherwise I will loose most of my little savings of over four years Soldiering

In addition I would say that it is over two years since I reenlisted and have not seen my family since that time,

Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servt
