Gainestown Clark Co. Ala Oct 31st 1866. Major O.D. Kinsman Superint. B of R. F & A.L. Montgomery Ala. Major Almost a month has now elapsed since I left Montgomery, fourteen days have passed since I had the honor of forwarding my official report to you. I have written many letters to my former friends at the Bureau of R.F. &c - strangely enough I have never received any reply and my official communication has up to this date likewise remained unanswered. I am in consequence involved in much suspense and anxiety both as regards the probable fate of my letters, or possibly their answers, and my own future proceedings. When I left Montgomery I had no [[strikethrough]] letters [[/strikethrough]] money whatsoever, with the exception of the $50.00 which were advanced to me as "travelling expenses", these $50.00 have long since been exhausted
