you for the facts in the cas and upon your statement Gen Woods reaffirmed his litter to the Stock.

I desire to call your attention to the statemen of Gen Bragg, that the "Freedmens Bureau is subordinate to Gen Wood", and if so, must so [[indicate.?]]

The Gen States that the claimants left his place without claiming the Stock; and that the first notice he had of their intention to claim the stock, was the 15th Jany; to this the claiments positively deny. Whether they notified John Bragg or his Agent, I am unable to say, but of this I know, they notified me of the fact at an earlier date and the thing being in doubt, whether Gen Smith's orders or Yours should be respected. I for a time, declined to act, and did not do so, untill some time about the first of Jany, when I saw your Adjutant Gen. and learned from him, (as I thought) that the Freedmans Bureau was not subordinate to the Military, and that the order of Gen Smith had been revoked, and upon this, I notified the several Contestants to appear before me, and among the number was Gen Bragg, as Agent for his brother J. Bragg
