I enclose herewith papers relating to the case of the Freedwoman Caroline Osborn and give below her statement in regard to her previous history.

At the age of sixteen (16) years (in 1858) she was stolen from her home in Washington by a Mr Milton who took her to Richmond Va where she was sold at public auction to a trader who brought her here and sold her to Dr Colgin of Belmont Sumter Co Ala. who afterwards sold her to Green Coates Esq of McDowells Landing. She is now living with Mr Seabert of Belmont and desires to go to her friends in Washington but has not
