I have written to Gen. Swayne requesting the appointment of Sp. Agent for North Alabama for the purpose of giving a practical effect to the intentions of Congress. 
If you Sir, think well enough of me to support my request by a communication to Gen Swayne - either as an endorsement on this - or otherwise.- I shall be under obligations to you & shall remain Gen'l.
