an order [[strikethrough]] to report [[/strikethrough]] transferring me to the Invalid Corps - on account of disability from a wound, and August 8th 1863, I rec'd and accepted the Appt. of 1st Lieut in that Corps.

In this grade I served at different kinds of Provost duty - in Harrisburg and Philadelphia Pa. and, Washington D.C. until Dec. 10th 1863.  I rec'd the Appt. of Captain in the Invalid Corps.  Soon after I was assigned to the 19th Regt V.R.C. and with it served in the works fronting Washington during July 1864, on the northern border, forwarding recruits &c to the front - and guarding Prisoners of War - at Elmira N.Y. until November of that year. W hen with others I was ordered to report from here to the Adjt General U.S.A. for orders.

In March I rec'd orders to report to the Commissioner "Freedmens - Bureau" - Washington D.C. by letter and by that office was ordered to report in person to the Asst. Com. State of Ala
