On the 22nd of October complaint was entered at this office to the effect that Thos J Woolf Judge of Probate for Marengo Co. had apprenticed to Maj W.K. Paulling nine (9) Freed minor orphans who were situated as follows - "Lee" seventeen (17) years of age was and had been been since the surrender marking for Saml Houston for his board clothes and five (5) dollars per month. Four (4) of the others were and had been since their freedom living with and supported by two of their uncles on the place of A.C.Davidson Esq. These uncles cover that they are able and willing to support and educate the children
