The State of Alabama}
Montgomery County   } 

Daniel Wallis makes oath that Thomas F Parker on or about the 5th day of September 1865, in the County of Talladega in said State, committed an assault upon him the said Wallis, with intent to murder or maim him the said Wallis, that an indictment for said crime is now heading in the Circuit Court of said County of Talladega thus been these heading since the Fall Term 1865 of the said Circuit Court;- that frequent efforts have been made by warrant and capias,(the only process which affiant believes the law of said State provides), to arrest said Parker and bring him to justice & trial for said crime, all of which efforts have failed, either from the inability or unwillingness of the authorized civil officers, to arrest said Parker; that since the commission of said crime, the said Parker has broken up his residence in Alabama, sold out his home in Alabama, and removed his family out of this State, as affiant is informed & believes, and is a fugitive from justice.
