I am happy to say that nearly all the freedmen have employment and as you will see by the above report, there are but very few of them who draw rations - This has been the call since my arrival here. But there are a great many destitute whites, widows and children, whose Husbands and fathers have been killed during the war
The three counties are very poor for agricultural purposes and this causes more Suffering than I suppose there is in other portions of the State. I cannot estimate exactly the number of rations it will require for the Month of February. but think from present indications the following will be required.
Rations for 250 Adults
Rations for 600 Children
This estimate is larger than issued this month for this reason, that there are many needy cases constantly applying that have not required any help before.
