Dear sir, 
Yours of Jany 18th came to hand yesterday, requesting me to send you a Statement of the number of indictments &c at out last Term of the Circuit Court, indictments for offenses by White persons to Negroes, Two (2), and One (1) indictment for injuries by Negroes to White persons. and the whole number of indictments against White persons were 139.- The whole number against Negroes were 25,.

I have just received the the above report from the desk of Choctaw. The term was a special one held in December last. I had previously forwarded to you a report from the Counties of my Circuit. I think the reports will show the people will do justly toward freedmen. Very Respectfully &c.  J.Cobbs
