Charges and Specifications prefered against Citizen Joshua Adams.

Charged 1st Interfering with United States soldiers in the execution of their duty.

Specification 1st In this that the said Joshua Adams did discharge a shot from a pistol at certain United States soldiers, to wit. Sergeant Thomas W Reynolds, Private Isaah Newman, and Private Edwin N. Fosdick, all of the Eighth Regiment of Iowa Veteran Volunteer Infantry in the service of the United States; to their great peril and danger, while the said soldiers were endeavoring to arrest one Joe Adams in accordance with instructions received by them from the Assistant Superintendent of Freedmen of the District of Montgomery State of Alabama, under whom they were serving.

All of this at or near West Point Georgia on or about the seventeenth day of March Eighteen hundred and sixty six.

Specification 2nd In this that the said Joshua Adams did attempt to strike with a gun Private Edwin N. Fosdick of the Eighth Regiment of Iowa Veteran Volunteer Infantry, in the eservice of the United States; while
