K Henry, by whose order they had been transferred to the Lowndes County Jail. I left the Bonds in the hands of the Shff of Lowndes County who promised me as soon as I forworded the order from Judge Henry he would Release the Boy. While there, I made a Contract with Henry as per affidavit hereto attached Mark. Exhibit "A" but had no chance at the time of Reducing the same to writing. With this understanding. I immediately Returned to Greenville Ala. and Engaged the services of [Law & Gamble?] to procure me the Legal order by writ of Habeas Corpus or otherwise. (See Certificate Mark "B") In the meantime Mr C.W. Knight went to Hayneville and procured in some way the Release of Henry and Henry Came to my House and stated to me that Mr Knight had made no Contract with him and didnt - want him. If I. did - whereupon on the 16th day of Jany 1866. we perfected and submitted to writing the original Contract made verbally in the Lowndes County Jail on the 27th day of December 1865.
