Troops are going to leave here to morrow, I take the liberty in urging the necessity of at least a synod of Regulars, to say from ten to fifteen men under the command of a Sargeant; although the state of affairs here, appear to be at present very quiet, and that I am personaly getting along very well with the civil authorities and people in general, I fear that the intire withdrawel of troops would cause an unfavorable change of feeling toward the Bureau. I say not this out of any personal fear, (I have been too long a soldier for that,) but for the interest of the Bureau. We do not require many soldiers for our protection, but such as they
