Office Assistant Commissioner, State of Alabama,
BUREAU OF REFUGEES, FREEDMEN AND ABANDONED LANDS.
Montgomery, Ala., May 12th, 1866.

Bvt Major Genl Chas R. Woods,
Comdg Dept of Ala.
Mobile Ala

General
I have the honor to request that the Q.M. Dept. in Huntsville may be continued for the present if practicable.
In moving supplies for the destitute of North Alabama a large amount of transportation is required and as the Supt. of the Bureau depends on the Q.M. Department for such transportation the breaking up of that Dept will materially interfere with the operations of the Bureau.
A requisition for transportation has been forwarded to Washington for approval. If the transpiration required should be transferred to this Department then the necessity for the continuence of the present system will cease.
Very Respectfully

Is there a rule for word divisions? I'm not certain about transcribing "necessity" in the third to last line. (Note: per SI don't truncate words, if you read the instructions they would tell you how to manage all of transcriptions of these pages)
