State of Alabama General, Circumstances compell me to make to you the following statement, for your personal information: Several ill disposed persons, of whom "Thomas Mostyn" the present Agent at the Colony of Garland, Butler County appears to be the Head Center, in connection with his partner in Business, an individual by the name of "Jim Frear" who keeps a low drinking shop at this town, are endeavoring to injure my character as an Officer and gentlemen, for reasons well known to me:- Said Thomas Mostyn, formerly a private of Co. E 178th N.Y. Vols, who had unfortunately to the Bureau and to the noble cause, and undoubtedly by some great mistake,
