U.S. Marshal's Office
Mobile, Ala July 23 1866

Colonel,

Presuming that the additional duties of the Freedman's Bureau since the consolidation of the Departments of Alabama and Georgia have increased the clerical work in your office, I most respectfully renew my application for a situation as clerk in the same, reforward copies of military testimonials and repeat also that I trust to earn you full satisfaction and confidence.

The fact, that Mr John Hardy U.S. Marshal, in whose office I am since June 20th does not pay me, as agreed upon causes me to care for an other position.

In hope, you will be kind enough to favor me with a reply at your earliest convenience, I have the honor
