Personally appeared before me George E. Markham acting justice of the peace in and for the the county and state aforesaid on the 6th day of November 1865 Samuel Strudwick of the County and State aforesaid who being duly sworn deposes and says during the month of July 1865 and on the 13th day of said month a small tin box containing among other things, eighty dollars more or less in the gold coin of United States was stolen from a Wardrobe in his the said Strudwick bedroom, the gold abstracted and taken off and the box and its other contents strown down in the Public Road before his the aforesaid Strudwick home When it was found affiant further deposes that on the morning of the twentieth day of May 1865 that an H Scarborough, then acting in contract as agent and superintendent for him the said Strudwick, informed him the said Strudwick on the night previous, that is to say on the night of the nineteenth of May 1865 that two mules were stolen from the mule lot on the said Strudwick plantation in the County and State aforesaid and of the value of one hundred and twenty five dollars and
