Gent.
On my return home, I found the Supplies for Marshall & De Kalb Counties at Decatur & they were being put on board a Steamer for Guntersville; the charges of Messrs Sheets & his partner were $490 00, for which they held in their hands 160 Sacks corn & a lot of Bacon, these charges are all unnessary except the drayage from Depot to River which is three cents per Sack for corn, if the Supplies were shipped to care R.R Agt. or Capt Johnson of St Kingston the drayage are all the charges, these counties cannot pay the charges. Consequently the poor starving women loose at least one third of their supplies

Transcription Notes:
Drayage is the transport of goods over a short distance
