Head-Quarters Post of Selma.
Selma, Ala., December 12th 1866

Lieut Jno F. Conyngham
A.A.G. Sub. Dist. of Ala.
Montgomery Ala.

Lieutenant, I have the honor to ask if Transportation may be furnished to Mrs. Sarah Robinson Laundress in Company "E" 3rd Batt. 15th Inf. to her home in New York.

Mrs. Robinson has been very sick and is now far from well. The Surgeon assures her that she cannot recover in the south and advises her to go north at once. She is poor and has not the means needed to take her north. She has been an excellent Laundress, her Husband is a good soldier.

Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servant
Geo. Shorkley
1st Lieut 15th Inf U.S.A.
Commanding.
