The building material for that Hospital now furnished by the County and there is still a lot of lumber on hand to errect a small House for the use of the Overseer and Keeping Rations. If I have permission to employ our Carpenter to put up that House then Fifty of them would pay the expenses, there is also no water near the Hospital, the sinking of a well is necessary which will cost from $125.00 to 30 dollars, but the County Commissioners refuse to add in paying to build the house or to digg the well because they are to poor and unable to raise the money.
I have instructed Dr. Burkhalder to visit the Colonie every day until further orders, have also purchased toilet tissue to improve the sanitary condition of the place.
The Freedmens School under the management of Mrs. Hopkins is in good condition, but the Lady intends to vacate her place if she does not receive assistance, I found her a place to board, so that she may leave the colored family she now stays with.
My supplies are exhausted, the promised 60,000 Rations have not yet made their appearance.
