Macon Ga June 28 1866
Sir,
General Tilson who is at present in this [[crossed out]] s [[/crossed out]] city and with whom I have just had a lengthy interview informs me, he had refered a caus which I had reported to him to you, viz., The out rage which has perpetrated upon Rev Robert Alexander at Auburn Ala on the night of the 14th inst, A ministries of the African M. E. Church, of whom I am the presiding elder. I sent Brother Alexander to Columbus Ga. where I shall go on Saturday morning, will you have the kindness to inform me at Columbus, what you have done in the case, I want him to go back there, and preach and teach his school, the colored people want him, and the General assures me, you will see him protected, I had just prepared a lengthy document for the Secretary of War, with whom I am personally, acquainted, when I was happily informed by General Tilson, you would attend to it, I would have reported the case to you immediately, had I known you. But General Tilson informs me you are all right, should you desire any thing please let me know at once.
