This is about the 5th time I have wrote your Honnor in the Last 6 or 8 months on the Subjects of the Rights of Freedmen in certain cases
All of which was Promptly answered
Now coms a New Case for your Honnor's Special Consideration to say
1st they Resort of Freedmen to a J.P. the Civil Law as called is Perfectly Ridiculous & in No case in my opion [opinion] does the Freedmen Get his Right
2d Many Freedmen is working for a Portion of the Crop of 1866 — — that they may not Get thare Portion of they Crops Many are committed to Jail for unJust charges so the crop may be used up by sale or otherwise Before they Get out
