Sir-
I have just received from Col. Cadle your opinion affirming the judgement, a decree, of Col. Harmount (Assistant Agent of the Freedman's Bureau for this District) - 
I would be uncandid were I to say, that I was satisfied with your ruling. With due and proper difference; and with great confidence; I ask you to reconsider your opinion, Provided my statements which I am willing to verify, and the position, I assume, unsatisfactory to you.
If I were not greatly in error, the Bureau over which you preside, promulgated an order, instructing its agents, Judges of Probate, Justices of The Peace N. in their decisions, touching the rights of Freedmen; to be governed and controlled by the Statute laws of Alabama, in force on the 11th day of January 1861.
