"That as long as they were respectful and obedient to me, and conducted themselves properly; they should receive from me the same care and protection I had always given to them -
I feel now sir, that I have discharged my whole duty; Have gone further perhaps than prudence and sound discretion would suggest - I hope however I have not done so -
