Colonel
Your Telegram of the 21d is just received. It was advertised in the papers or I would not have received it at all. As I had reported to you by letter that Major Theune was enroute to Talladega on the 20th I did not think it necessary to answer by Telegraph at this late day. Everything is moving on smoothly here. I trust you will be able to send an Officer here as soon as the first of next month to relieve me as my health is very poor being scarcely able to leave my bed to day.
I am Very Respectfully
Your Obedient Servant
