Colonel Beecher informed me that you would relieve me from duty at this place as soon as an officer reported who could be sent here. I desire to say that I am growing weaker daily and that at the present time I am scarcely able to sit up. It is true the duties required of me amount to nothing of moment but I am getting down so rapidly that I am much afraid I will not be able to get away at all unless I go soon. I regret the necessity that compels me to ask to be relieved as everything pertaining to the Bureau is now going smoothly. Capt Whiting has been here so long that he has the run of the business very well and the first of the month having gone by I think he could manage the business the rest of the month if necessary or until some one came
