Mobile Ala May. 18, 1866 To Col. P. F. Mancosas I can give you this information regarding the fitting out of vessels for the slave trade between Mobile, Bay. and Cuba; The Virgin a Confederate blockade runner was bought for that purpose, I know it. I have been offered a situation on her with the understanding that she was to engage in that trade. A small boat now carrying the mail up the Alabama River is also designed for that business, by picking up Negroes along the river and at this place and taking them to Pensacola or Agcy. West and having them shipped from there to Cuba for sale, Captain, William Rogers communicated this to me and desired me to go with him. Oliver Bowen
