Miss Susan Herron states that she resides in the family of W J. McBryde and knows that said McBryde is a proper person to have the care of the two apprentice boys the children of Moses Cade, she states that said McBryde treats the said boys with kindness & humanity; that he provides them with clothing and provisions in suitable and sufficient quantities and is having them instructed in the primary studies of the English language, She states she knows Moses Cade and that said Moses left his wife and three children on the place of said McBryde about the 1st of July 1865 and did not return untill the latter part of Nov or 1st of Dec following and when he did return he came without any money and from that time untill Christmas a good deal of his time was spent on the place of said McBryde and a great part of support was had from the effects of said McBryde [[strikethrough]] for he [[/strikethrough]] free of charge; Further when the wife of Moses left the place of said McBryde where she had formerly lived; (sometime between christmas and the 1st of Jan last) besides the 2 boys who were apprenticed to said McBryde she left on the place a girl about 5 yr old, the daughter of said Moses and the said McBryde supported through the month of Jan last the said daughter - without pay and the said daughter - about (5 yrs old of Moses Cade is at present on the place of said McBryde in the family of a Freedman who has very scanty means of support except as furnished him by the said McBryde. She further states that one of the apprentice boys the children of Moses is feeble, that he had a very severe spell of sickness in Jan last, that medical attention was given by a reputed good Physician at the instance of said McBryde and the wife of said McBryde nursed him and had him watched over with almost parental care

Further - the daughter of Moses Cade now on the place of said McBryde has been left to the charities of a Freedman
