as to threaten the life of Godfry Taylor, the accused. It is therefore thought by Genl J.M. Withers, Mayor of this City. that some action on the part of the Military Authorities is necessary for the protection and vindication of Taylor; hence the document is transmitted-

Both the parties, Edmund D. Taylor, the complainant, and the accused, reside in this City, and I have known them more than twenty years. I consider Godfry Taylor, the accused, far the most reliable man, and I doubt not he will fully vindicate himself if he has an opportunity.
