I have been the acting Agent of the Freedman's Bureau, and the only one - except for a month or so - in the County, for some twenty months I have received nothing for it, but the contrary it has entailed upon me labors of the most unpleasant character and has seriously interfered with other duties. I understand that many Agents have been and are being remunerated by the Government for services rendered in this behalf, and if so, it seems to me that my claim is as legitimate as any that could be presented.
