By the way General - You know that we are great fire eaters in my County - and of course, not very popular with the powers that be, - Still, I am greatly inclined to the opinion that fire eaters (as they are improperly called) are the true men of the Country - The only thing desired, is to know the right and, then, we dare to do it. My people have accepted the situation in good faith - and we intend to do equal justice to all - In proof of which I beg leave to call your attention to the report of a Judicial proceeding by our County, where the freedman is Plff [[Plaintiff]] and the whiteman is def.t [[Defendant]] We know the right and generally do what we think is right.

When the charge is made that the freedman cannot get his rights before the law. I want you and all just men to except the county of Pike, Ala.

Herewith, I send you two copies of papers in verification of the above premises_

Very Respectfully
A.N.Worthy.

P.S. Please send to the Commissioners Court by & through this constituted agent Mr. A. A. Griffin 100 Blankits_ cloth, for at least 50 persons, - also, 10 or 15
