Best guess is Argentina based on: 1) M. Barros was an Argentine botanist (1880-1973) who confirmed the taxonomy. He was a specialist in sedges. 2) The specimen was received from Alan A. Beetle, a botanist at Univ. of Calif from 1938(?) to 1946. Beetle collected in South America (1938-1939) for the world fairs in San Francisco and New York and published on the phytogeography of Patagonia.
