Joseph Nicollet's third expedition occurred in 1839. Charles Geyer was on it and collected specimens. They travel from "northwest from Iowa along the Missouri River toward Fort Pierre, South Dakota." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Nicollet).
2. On 14 May they were "at Dixon's" meaning Dixon's Bluff which is apparently "within or near Tonka Park" (which presumably is the Ha Ha Tonka Park) - https://www.jstor.org/stable/985723?read-now=1&refreqid=excelsior%3A06094d38596107e8dfe95f3fc5f072f7&seq=16#page_scan_tab_contents
This is Nicollet's journal - https://www.stolaf.edu/academics/nicollet/Nic1839/Meteor/Details/DSC_5011.html
2. I found a specimen collected by Geyer on May 13, 1839 at JSTOR Global Plants. They list the Locality as "Missouri Hills."
